Katsina by Earl Dino' Patterson Jr. - 'Corn Maiden' -

This Corn Maiden is a wood carving created from Cottonwood root and symbolizes the renewal of life, fertility, and the nurturing of crops, especially corn, which is central to many Native American cultures. The Corn Maiden is revered for bringing sustenance and abundance to the people, and she represents the spirit of growth, agriculture, and the connection between the Earth and humanity.

Earl Dino Patterson Jr., also known as Sundaweuma, is a distinguished Hopi and Navajo carver from Hotevilla, Third Mesa, in northeastern Arizona. His heritage includes the Roadrunner and Greasewood clans of the Hopi tribe. Dino was introduced to carving by his brother and brother-in-law and has been creating Hopi Katsina dolls for over 30 years.
